About Me
It’s my personal mission to be the champion and the cheerleader for the small business owners out there who are just getting started. What if every small business owner had someone to turn to with questions (there are at least a million), someone who has already walked the road? Wouldn’t that be incredible?
Hi there. I’m Stephanie and it’s a pleasure to meet you! Here’s a little about me…
On the personal side, my husband and I had a merger back in 2001 and I instantly went from one to five children, which was both an experiment in maintaining mental health under extreme stress and a very long lesson in how one’s heart can expand exponentially when little people are involved. I’m happy to say that I survived those early years and those little people are all grown and working towards their independence, in various stages. We have three on their own, one in college, and one saving to move out, so we are knocking on that empty nest door as we speak and we are very much enjoying the addition of grandbabies and all of the fun and life they bring.
In addition to being a Mom and a Mia (and an almost empty nester), I’m a Jesus lover, a coffee addict and a spreadsheet queen. I’m a little OCD, peppered with a good measure of sarcasm. I’m a stickler about proper spelling and grammar. I love chocolate and my husband’s lemon bars. I can plan events like nobody’s business (and I have the best time doing it!). I’m a keto dieter… some days (the struggle is real!), and I’m a photographer in my off time. I was born and raised in Colorado and I absolutely cannot do directions in any state where mountains aren’t west. I lived for awhile in Texas and then Tennessee (thank the Lord for Google Maps), so I have developed an affinity for southern food and southern hospitality, too.
On the business side, I’m a corporate girl with an entrepreneurial spirit. I’ve been working in Corporate America for most of my 25-year career, so I know how big business runs. But every second of that 25 years, I’ve had my mind and my eye on launching a small business. Seven years ago, my husband and I decided to take the leap and get our own small business off the ground. He had the operational brain and I had the back-end, process know-how. Together, we’ve built something pretty spectacular.
But let me say this… running a small business is NOT for the faint of heart. It has absolutely taken blood, sweat and tears. There have been sleepless nights and restless days. There have been frustrations, and roadblocks, and slow times, and moments when we thought maybe we should just throw in the towel. But there have also been big wins, amazing customer stories, satisfying projects, and my oh my, have we ever learned more than we thought there was to know.
Through all of that, I have had some amazing encouragers and mentors, people who got excited for us, championed our vision, stood by us unwaveringly, and that, my friends, is the primary reason we are still plugging along. That is also the primary reason I decided to launch this blog.
So, here I am. Writing about the way we did it, the lessons we learned along the way–the goals, the struggles, the rewards. It really does take a whole lot of coffee and a truckload of courage. So if you’re setting off down the road, let’s check in over a hot (or iced) cup of java (even if it’s virtual) and see what we can make happen!
